View MoreShe walked in with her mother I assumed. She looked young and shy. Her skin was fair and her lips were pink. Her long blond and brown hair was pulled into a loose bun. Her eyelids fluttered as she only made contact with the ground. Preventing me from seeing the color of her eyes. She wore a simple colored dress and soft pink flats. She was thin and tall with a full set of breasts. She walked in with the wind and caught my attention.
I hid so she couldn’t see me. I knew she was here to see my father. Her mother signed her in and I caught her name, Sadie. My father doctor Joel Coleman. One of the most beloved psychiatric in Brockville. I sadly wondered what was wrong with this beautiful creature. She sat next to her mother, still looking towards the floor. “Jacob, where are you?” I heard my father holler out. Sadie turned her head slightly. I caught a flash of her blue-green eyes and then back to the floor they went.
“I’m right here father,” I said as I stepped into his office. My father, a man in his fifties. Looked up from his glasses at me.
“You need to make sure your home tonight by six. Your mother is hosting a dinner party and you’re expected to be there.” He said in a stern voice. My father’s word was God. You never disobeyed him or there would be hell to pay.
“Yes, father, I won’t miss it,” I said as I started to head out of the building. I walked out to the waiting room where Sadie still set looking at the ground. I made a little noise as I walked by her hoping she would look up at me, but she didn’t. I pulled up in front of the high school in my brand new Dodge Challenger. A gift my father got me on my seventeenth birthday. I knew it was a kiss ass gift. Whatever, I looked good in it. I looked at my kingdom. I ruled this school and everyone knew it. I was Brockville’s golden boy. The caption of the football team. Straight A student and the power to achieve anything I touched. I also hated every minute of it. I got out and heard my name immediately.
“Jake!” I turned to see Danny and Tyler coming my way. The two of them have been my best friends since grade school. The three of us were always together, but even they didn’t know my secrets. I smiled at them as they approached me. “Hey man, why are you so late this morning?” Danny asked.
“I had to help my father at his office this morning.”
“So did you see some crazies this morning?” Tyler asked joking around.
“Not everyone who sees a shrink is crazy Ty,” I said and started to head inside the building. That’s when I heard her voice. Kennedy Jones the school’s most feared female. The perfect queen for a king. Head cheerleader, Straight A student, and very popular. Not to mention hot as hell. Also a total bitch and my girlfriend. She came running over to me and hugged me. “Morning babe,” I said to her, and then her group of minions came running up, and off she went.
“I’ve got to go,” I said to my boys and headed off towards the office. I had the first period free and I did work in the school’s office with the reception, Mrs. Noel. She is a very sweet old lady. With my grades, I could pretty much fly through my senior year. Without taking a single class if I wanted to, but I was doing my best to impress colleges. I wanted to get far from this place one day. That’s when I saw Sadie. She was sitting while her mother was talking with Mrs. Noel. I walked in and Mrs. Noel smiled up at me.
“Perfect, Jacob here can show Sadie around for us.” Mrs. Noel said. Sadie looked up at me and she sighed. I guess she recognizes me.
“Of course Mrs. Noel, I’d be happy to,” I said and smiled at her. Sadie’s mother walked over to her and pulled her aside. She said something to Sadie, but I couldn’t make it out. Her mother walked out and Mrs. Noel handed me Sadie’s schedule. I saw she was a senior like me and had three classes with me. Classes had already started so the halls were quiet. We walked side by side and didn’t say anything. I was thinking of something to say to her that didn’t sound stupid. “So where did you move from?” I asked her.
“Many places.” Her sweet soft voice said.
“Army brat?”
“You could say that. I’m sorry you got stuck with me. The crazy girl you saw this morning at doctor Coleman’s office.” She said.
“I’m not stuck with you. Anyways you just saved me from having to files papers and listen to Mrs. Noel’s stories about her husband’s bowel movements.” I heard her laugh and it was beautiful.
“Ew, that’s gross.” She said with a smile. I had to laugh. “Can I ask why you were there this morning?”
“Doctor Coleman is my father.” She looked back to the ground. “Hey, my father doesn’t discuss his clients with anyone,” I said hoping to make her feel better. “And I don’t think you are crazy.” She smiled and looked away. I showed her to all her classes. I also showed her the gym, library, and the football field. Not that she seemed to care about it. We walked across the field.
“Tell me about you, Jacob.” She asked me as she took a seat on the bottom bleachers.
“You mean you don’t know?” I said has I eyed her a moment. She cocked her head at me. Her eyes shined bright in the sunlight. “I’m Jacob Coleman, this town golden boy. I’m a respected guy around her. Captin of the football team and a hell of a student.” She didn’t look impressed.
“Why?” She asked me. I just cocked my head at her.
“Because it’s what is expected of me.”
“But why?” Was she for real I just told her?
“I just told you.”
“No, what you told me was what they want. Not what you want. Why do you do it?” No one has ever asked me that and I started to feel very vulnerable. I didn’t care for that feeling, but no one has ever cared about what I felt. She stood up and came a little closer to me. She was studying my face for a moment and I didn’t say a word.
“I, let’s get you back so you can start your day.” She nodded at me and followed me back to the office. The rest of the day went by pretty normal for me. I saw Sadie in the classes we had together. She had just stayed quiet and kept her head down. There was a lot of sadness in her eyes and it didn’t sit well with me. I wanted to pull her in my arms and tell her everything was going to be okay. At lunch, she was sitting alone under a tree. I wanted to go over to her, but I knew that would draw up questions that I couldn’t answer or they would follow me as I went to her. That wouldn’t be good for her or me. So I didn’t go to her.
After school was over I had to stay and do a few things. It was starting to get late and I had to be home. I started to head out to my car. When I noticed Sadie sitting on the steps. I pulled my phone out and it was after five. What the hell was she still doing here? I said to myself. I headed over to her. “Sadie? What are you still doing here?” She looked up at me.
“Hello, Jacob. I’m waiting for my mother.”
“She does know you got out over two hours ago right?” She nodded at me. “I can take you home.” I offered.
“That’s okay Jacob. I don’t mind waiting.” Her sweet voice said.
“Then I’m at least going to wait with you. It’s starting to get dark.” I said as I took a seat next to her. She looked over at me. I pulled my phone out and it was ten minutes to six. I knew I was going to be in for it with my father, but I couldn’t leave her alone here. “Tell me about you Sadie,” I asked her.
“Jacob you should head home you have family waiting for you.” How the hell did she even know that? I said to myself. “Beside You and I come from two different worlds and it would be better if you stayed away from mine.” Her soft voice said as her mother finally pulled up and she left me sitting there.
“Are you going to shoot me now father?” I asked him as I kept my eyes on his eyes and not the gun. He shook his head and I stood my ground. I heard the door slam open behind me and my father’s body was slammed hard into the wall. Sadie came walking in and she didn’t even look like herself.“Let me down, I can’t breathe.” My father hissed out grabbing for his throat.“Sadie?” I said coming near her.“Leave, Jacob get Julie and your mother and leave here now!”“Sadie, I’m not going anywhere without you. Please if you do anything to him. We will have to run for the rest of our lives.”“He was going to kill you.”
I left my father’s office with no answers. I knew he was up to something, but what could I do without him coming clean. I could still hear Sadie talking with my mother. I walked into the living room and my mother was holding Julie. Sadie was talking about having Julie. My mother was just loving on my daughter. At that moment I had wished things were different. I had wished my family and Sadie’s family were normal. That these moments were real, but I knew better. I knew that Sadie and I needed to get out of here. I walked in and sat down next to Sadie. I placed my arm around her and pulled her close to me. My mother smiled at us. She then looked over to Sadie.“You got yourself one of the good ones.” My mother said. I smiled at her as she got up and handed Julie over to me. “I have to check on dinner. It’s good to have you, home son.” She said as she left the room.“I don’t get a bad reading off of your mother,” Sadie
Jacob’s POV,“I don’t know what’s going on, but Sadie and her parents are on there way back now.” Doctor Kim sat me down and told me. We had to be there when they released her to me at the police station where they would be arrested for leaving with her. Sadie had a lot of talents but mind control was not one of them. I was confused but happy at the same time. I couldn’t wait to get my girl back. “Just understand this. Even though Sadie’s parents bring her back. We still have to prove that Sadie is not crazy and can cope in this world without help.” I understood what the doctor was saying, but as long as I had Sadie I knew this was all going to work out.We pulled up to the police station and we went in and took a seat. That’s when the doors opened and Sadie came
Jacob’s POV,“Jacob, do you love me?”“More than you will ever know.”“Will you love me forever?”“You know I will.”“I love you too Jacob.”“What’s wrong, baby?”“I don’t feel anything good coming.”“What do you mean?”“I need you to promise me something.&r
Sadie’s POV,Jacob had no idea of the horrible dreams I was having. My nightmares were all way too real for me and I saw this ending badly. We showed up at the police station early Monday morning and they took me into custody. Even after, doctor Kim told them that Jacob and I were now married. It didn't matter. We had to go home to fight. I kissed Julie and Jacob before they left with me. Jacob told me not to worry. He would be there before I got there. I was escorted onto a plane by strangers. Once we landed my parents were waiting for us at baggage claim. I wasn't happy to see them but I had to keep myself in check and that’s what I did. My mother smiled and placed her arms out to reach for me. But I just move past her and grab my things off the conveyor belt. “Please Sadie, don’t be this way.” She said.
“I want to marry you first,” Sadie said to me. I turned and looked at her.“What?”“I want to be married to you before I go.” I looked at doctor Kim.“Sadie, I don’t think the cops are going to let you out of here. I believe they are going to take you into custody and deliver you home to your parents.” Doctor Kim said.“Don’t you think us being married gives Jacob more leeway?” She asked. It looked as though the doctor was thinking about things. I mean it made sense. I would be her husband and have more control than I thought.“Give me a minute, I need to speak to the officers.” The doctor said and left the room. I turned and squeezed Sadie’s hand. We sat in that room for around twenty minutes. When doctor Kim came walking back in.“Okay, So here is the deal. Sadie is to be in my care and watch until Monday. They want to give her time with your
