His wolf surged beneath his skin. Vargr blocked him with one firm hand to his chest, holding him back. “I say it is you,” Rhovan began, pointing to Darius, “you are the real Alpha Darius, and you—”

Maps overlaid with satellite imagery showed the Lycan pack's territory highlighted in red. His hand brushed the touchscreen, zooming in on the coordinates. Rothgar, enraged tore past Darius, charged one last time, straight for them. Darius turned to meet him, but his body faltered, his wounds too deep. “Go! he roared. Get them out!” Adrian stepped forward, defiant. “Not without you!” Rothgar’s blade arced through the smoke, but before it could reach Adrian, Darius caught it with his axe, metal screamed, sparks flying, and with one final roar, he shoved Rothgar back into the flames. The Ironfang leader vanished into the inferno, his howl fading into the roaring blaze.

"If you dared to kill me back then, you would have to die for it too, wouldn't you?" Dahlia frowned deeply as she fell silent. However, Ezra stepped up smilingly.
