"Enough to see you’re in over your head. You think groveling in the rain is going to win her over? Pathetic."
"Shut up, Alaric," I growled, stepping closer to him. "You have no idea what I’m dealing with."
"Don’t I?" he said, his smirk widening. "Oh, I know exactly what you’re dealing with. You’ve fallen for her. Our little game wasn’t so fun when the tables turned, was it?"
I froze, my chest tightening. I wanted to deny it, to tell him he was wrong, but I couldn’t.
"That’s what I thought," Alaric said, laughing coldly. "You’re in love with her, and it’s tearing you apart. How poetic."
