The two of us walked to a nearby shack, and I couldn’t help the smile that formed on my lips at the sight of the old woman who stood alongside her husband in front of the cashier.
“What can we do for the two of you?” The old man asked, smiling at us.
“Two bottles of water, please.” Alessandro said, and the man nodded.
“Bottles of water only? My boy, your wife is carrying your child, and her cheeks show that she is far too skinny for only water.” My cheeks reddened, more than they already were, at the woman calling me his wife. Alessandro smirked and shrugged, turning his attention toward me for a second before he sighed.
