Alaria: The knock at dawn was desperate, three sharp raps that broke the fragile silence of the camp. Liam was already awake, standing by the map table when one of the guards burst in. “Alpha! There’s someone at the northern border. She’s injured, she asked for you. She said that she will speak to no one else but you.” I was beside him before he could respond. “Bring her in.” “Alaria, she could be dangerous.” “I doubt that she would be, given the fact that she is going to be surrounded by men who want to kill her.” I said, raising an eyebrow.

Thorne barked, his voice strained with exertion. I nodded, clinging to him as he fought to keep the wolves at bay. The forest around us seemed to close in, the shadows thickening with every passing second. But Thorne wouldn’t back down. He couldn’t. Not with me by his side. With a powerful thrust, Thorne threw one of the wolves into a tree, snapping its neck with a sickening crack. But even as he took down the last of the pack, I could feel something shift in the air. The wolves were gone, but the danger wasn’t over. Not yet.

It is a just punishment for each of them. Suddenly my secretary knocks again, pulling me from my thoughts. “Sorry to bother you, Alpha King, sir, but there’s urgent news from our border patrol,” she says quickly. “What is it?” I ask. “There’s been a sighting, sir. It’s Lilia. She’s been detected near BloodyMoon, and they think she might be up to something.”

“I had to. Elias needed help, and my mother—” “Elias’s alive,” I said quickly, cutting her off. “He’s safe. Maya and I found him. He is protecting the border with Ezra. Relief flickered across her face, but it was quickly replaced by determination. “Good. Because we’re going to need him.” Before I could ask what she meant, the air shifted again, and a voice cut through the clearing. “You made it, wolf,” Alice said, stepping into view. Her presence was magnetic and unnerving, her silver hair catching the faint light as her piercing green eyes locked onto mine. She radiated power, her expression unreadable as she looked between Astrid and me.

Anabella is unstoppable, and she becomes stronger the more time we squander. Lisa averted her gaze, her face inscrutable. "Lisa," I whispered quietly as I moved in closer. "We'll get responses. Together. Reluctantly, she agreed, but I could still see the uncertainty in her eyes. Lisa's POV Uncertainty weighted on every step of the trip back to the camp, making it seem longer than normal. The pack was waiting for us when we got there, their faces furrowed with worry. One of the guards shouted, "Alpha!" and hurried forward. Reports of stray sightings close to the southern border have started coming in. They are congregating.

I wanted to know why Sebastain hated Killian so much. “Alpha, there's a disturbance at the west border. You’re needed.” Sebastian glances down at me for a second. “You can get home okay?” I nod quickly, waving my hands. He smiles at me a little before rushing off with Eric. I sigh, feeling very let down. My mind is still on what Sebastain was about to tell me when I walk through my front door. “Luna, thank goodness you’re okay!” “Oh, Alice.” I stand a little awkwardly as she hugs me, unsure of what to do. I pat her on the back a little. “I’m okay, where are the twins?”

Alice turns on her back, hatchet in hand as the woman jumps on top of her. They fight with each other, each of them trying to kill with hatchets in hand. Fenrir slips and falls off a tree branch while trying to catch up with them. He lands on his side, his body almost completely covered in snow. Both of the women's attention turn to the sound of Fenrir falling. Alice takes this opportunity to free her arm from the woman's hand and plunges her hatchet into the woman's neck. She falls off Alice after her body immediately goes limp. Fighting for survival, but the woman's injuries are almost immediately fatal.

“Get some rest. Both of you. I want riders heading east and south by first light, and I want that border village burning before Vale’s first regiment even finishes packing its supplies.” “You’re starting a fire to distract from a fire,” Alice said. “That’s all this is.” “I’m buying weeks I don’t currently have. Call it whatever helps you sleep tonight.” She didn’t answer that, just turned and walked out without asking to be dismissed, the door closing harder behind her than it needed to. Selena watched her go, something unreadable crossing her face before she smoothed it back into the careful mask she’d worn her whole life inside rooms like this one.

It was a comforting sound a reminder of the humans who had become part of their community, but also a warning of the thin line they all walked together. Jason? Nathan’s voice carried smoothly through the mind link, low and steady. Brother, Jason answered silently. You’ve checked the patrols? All good, Nathan replied. No trouble at the border, no sign of rogues. But those kids from WA... they’ll come back, Jason. You know that. Jason exhaled, eyes drawn to where Aurora played with Malcolm on the grass. Her laughter, clear and warm, gave him a moment of peace until he remembered everything that could shatter it.

I grabbed my jacket and stormed toward the door, every step fueled by the pounding rhythm of her name in my head. But halfway through the corridor, a sharp voice cut through my mind… "Alpha, this is Aiden. I've got eyes on her. Western border. She's alive but she's not alone." I stopped dead. Western border? That was the opposite direction. My pulse spiked. Nicole had said northern. A chill crept down my spine. Western border. Not alone. "Keep eyes on her," I mindlinked back, forcing my tone steady. "Do not engage until I arrive."
