Talk to my dad about that will ya? Forget him though, this is a book about me and how swagtastic I AM. I'm the morals, culture, and brains of the bunch but also a social train wreck. Yeah, talk to some distant relative that made me inherit Asperger's Syndrome. Then there's the fact that I like a potential shrink and oh man, this is gonna be a ride!

I had been working on my book, pouring my heart and soul into it, and I was eager to share it with him. "Hey," he said, smiling at me as he sat down beside me. "How's it going?" I took a deep breath, feeling a sense of trepidation. "I've been working on a book," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. Derek's eyes lit up with interest. "A book?" he repeated. "That's amazing! What's it about?" I hesitated, feeling a sense of vulnerability. "It's about my journey," I said. "About my struggles with anxiety and depression, and how I've been working to heal and overcome them."

Okay, let's do a little intro… I'm Isabella Mayers, 19, and feeling fine, I guess. I'm a total bookworm, reading's my vibe. There's not much to say about me, my life's pretty low-key. Just me, my mom, and Ariana - that's my whole crew. Yeah, my life's boring, and honestly, so am I. But I'm fine with it. I hated drama... but I'm about to get into one now. Not just any drama, a really MESSY one.

I still had time to kill before the time I had agreed to meet him, so I dive into the book I had been reading the other day, and even with the thought that I was alone and there was nobody to peek over my shoulder and see what dirty things I was reading, my cheeks flamed. Those kinds of things that were explicitly described in the book and more had been done to me by Abed. Nobody else would do such a thing, I could not even imagine doing any of that with Connor. Bolting upright as the thought hit me, was there really no other person in the world who could do them? I was certain those things were fictional, until I met Abed, I was sure other people were out there, of course.

--- At 5:00 PM, Emma sat on her couch and read. The book was about a woman who lost everything — her job, her home, her sense of self. She moved to a small town and started over. She made mistakes. She fell down. She got back up. Emma closed the book. That's me, she thought. That's exactly me. She picked up her phone. Emma: I bought another book. Nick: You're becoming a reader. Emma: I'm becoming a person. Nick: You've always been a person. Emma: I've always been your assistant. Now I'm trying to be more.

“TiaRose...I like that. It gives people enough to know who I am without giving away my whole identity." "TiaRose it is," I said, typing it in. “Oh, it’s taken. TiaRose98 will have to do!” Next came the 'About Me' section. This was the part where most people failed. They either wrote a novel or said something generic. I needed something that captured the real Tia—the girl who cried at cat commercials but could also tear a plot hole to shreds. "What should we put for the bio?" I asked. "Loves books, hates spoilers, and is looking for someone who doesn't mind a girl who reads at the dinner table. Must love cats." Marissa joked, appearing with a fresh bowl of popcorn.

They wanted to take everything of mine away, but I refused to let them do so. Long before my health deteriorated, I had already donated everything I had. Even if I died, I would not leave them a single penny. Even so, my heart was still filled with regret when I looked at those two. Why did I give up my life for a woman? As much as I love this time with him, and as much as I am just trying to stay focused on the moment, I can’t just ignore the shit going on in my head. “Are you going to tell me what this book is about?” He asks me and, seeing as I have been trying to be honest with him, regardless of the fact that he is still lying, I give him another truth. “You.” I say simply, but it is more than that. It is about the fact that I know exactly who he is, about how badly I just want the truth. This book is about how much I wish that I could tell him exactly how I feel. How I wish I could act on those feelings without being afraid that I would jump right into a burning fire with no hope of escaping the agony.
