ISABELLA

I opened my eyes to see the guy from earlier, his eyes blazing with anger as he defended me.

He turned to me, his expression softening. "Are you okay?" he asked, holding out his hand.

I took it, still shaken. "Yeah, I'm fine," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.

In a moment of madness, I don't know what came over me, I leaned in and kissed him. The music, the chaos, everything faded into the background as our lips touched. It was like the whole world had come to a standstill.

He matched my energy, his soft lips grasping mine with a gentle yet insistent intensity. I pulled him closer, my body craving more. His hand slid under my dress, his fingers tracing the curve of my hip before pressing into my ass.

I hate how a jolt of pleasure rushes through my core.

He stopped abruptly, and I stared into his honey-brown eyes, wondering why he had stopped.

Wasn't he enjoying it?

Oh. Damnit.

Maybe he realized, I'm a stupid ass stranger that wants to hook up with him.

“Let's go somewhere better,” his deep voice spoke up. He dragged my hand out of there.

************************

“Isabella!”

Ugh, I knew Mom was going to be all over my case today. "I'm coming, mom!" I yelled back, tossing my phone aside.

I know what you want to know… okay let's do a recap from last night.

He'd...taken my V-card, and then I'd made a quick escape while he was in the bathroom. I didn't even know his name. Now, I was feeling all kinds of conflicted. Part of me was like, "Yaaas, I'm a grown woman; I can do what I want!" But another part was all, "Girl, what were you thinking?!" I couldn't help but judge myself for being so reckless with a stranger.

Mom's voice cut through my thoughts again. "Isabella, get down here now!" I sighed and swung my legs over the side of the bed. Okay, I'd better go see what she wants.

I rolled my hair into a bun and headed to the dining room to meet my mom. "Morning, Mom," I said, dropping into my chair.

"Morning, sweetheart," she replied, eyeing me expectantly. "How was last night?" She leaned in like she was waiting for me to spill the details of a magical fairy-tale romance.

"It was great," I replied nonchalantly, trying to downplay the drama that had actually gone down.

My mom's face fell, and she looked at me with a comically exaggerated expression, like a sad puppy.

Did I tell you guys my Mom was a drama queen? You should know by now. She is.

"If you don't have any tea to spill, then I do," she said, twirling around the kitchen like a Disney princess.

I rolled my eyes, but couldn't help smiling. "What is it, mom?" I asked, my mouth full of fluffy, hot pancakes. They were absolutely delicious!

"I'm getting married!" she announced, a bright smile spreading across her face.

I spat out the water I was about to swallow, shock written all over my face. "Married?" I repeated, my voice laced with confusion. "But you said you were never letting any man in after what Matthew did," I reminded her, my brow furrowed in surprise.

"I was just speaking out of heartbreak," she said with a shrug. "Why would you believe that?"

I raised an eyebrow. "I definitely believed it," I said, thinking back to the parade of men who had marched in and out of our lives. "I mean, I've lost count of how many guys have broken your heart. Okay, fine, I can count...but there were a lot."

I ticked off the names on my fingers. "There was Dad, who cheated. Then Paul, the 'prince' who needed money to 'get back to his people'...yeah, right. You fell for that one, hook, line, and sinker."

I rolled my eyes. "And who could forget Richard, the rich guy who promised to change our lives? Oh wait, he was married with three kids in England. Nice."

I sighed. "Then there was Gabriel, the Spanish 'gentleman' who was clearly bad news. And let's not forget Matthew, the chef who used you for money to fund his cooking competition. I mean, seriously, mom… I didn't think you were joking when you said you were giving up on men.”

I saw the expression on her face, and it wasn't good. She looked sad, and I felt terrible for reminding her of her string of failed relationships. This was one of the reasons I'd always been wary of getting involved with anyone - I didn't want to end up like her.

I stood up from the kitchen stool and wrapped my arms around her in a gentle hug. "I'm sorry, Mom," I said, trying to make amends. "I didn't mean to bring all that up again. I'm just looking out for you, that's all.”

"Sam is different," she said, her eyes sparkling with conviction.

I raised an eyebrow, thinking, Yeah, right, I've heard that before. But her expression was different this time - it was more serious, more sincere.

"Sam is really different," she repeated, her voice filled with emotion. "I can feel it. I'm in love with him, and he's in love with me too."

I looked at her, seeing the genuine happiness in her eyes. My heart melted, and I wrapped my arms around her in a warm hug. "I just want you to be happy, Mom," I said. "Anything that makes you happy, I'm fine with.”

"So, tell me about this Sam," I said, returning to my seat and asking the question to make her feel happy. It worked - a small smile curled up her lips.

"He's new in town," she began, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "He's wealthy...and when I say wealthy, I mean wealthy," she emphasized, a sly grin spreading across her face.

"He's into tech and all that, and he's also super talented - he plays the guitar," she continued, her smile growing wider. She went on and on, sharing more details about Sam, and I could see the genuine happiness radiating from her face.

I watched her, feeling happy for her. I truly hoped this relationship would last - she deserved it.

"Did he tell you if he was married or not?" I asked, not wanting history to repeat itself. I had to make sure.

"He's divorced," she replied, "but he has a son. They both moved into the city recently from Spain.”

  • Stepbrother; My Salvation    A POETIC DREAM. ( This chapter is just poetic no drama)

ISABELLA I stretched, feeling the warmth of the bed and the softness of the blankets. As I sat up, I noticed a note on the bedside table. It was from her, written in her familiar handwriting."Good morning, sleepyhead," the note read. I smiled, feeling a warmth in my chest. I folded the note and tucked it into my pocket, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation. I couldn't wait to see her again and continue where we left off.I sat up in bed, rubbing my eyes, trying to shake off the haze of sleep. As I looked around, I realized I was in my own room, surrounded by familiar walls and furniture. But as I thought back to the previous night, I couldn't quite piece together how I had ended up there.I vaguely remembered watching movies with her, laughing and snuggling on the couch, and then... nothing. My memories seemed to fade away, leaving me with a puzzled expression.I threw off the covers and swung my legs over the side of the bed, planting my feet firmly on the ground. I stoo

  • Stepbrother; My Salvation    Surprising

ZADE I didn't want to be doing this. The words hung in my mind like a reluctant confession. Whatever "this" was, it felt like a burden, a weight I carried with each passing moment. The reluctance seeped into my bones, making every step feel like a chore. I trudged along, driven by obligation rather than desire. The thought of continuing down this path filled me with a sense of dread, a feeling that I was trapped in a life that wasn't mine.As I stood there, frozen in the moment, my gaze became inexorably drawn to Isabella, her presence radiating an otherworldly aura that seemed to command my attention, and it was her eyes that truly captured me, those beautiful, shimmering orbs of light that sparkled like diamonds in the sunlight, holding me spellbound in their mesmerizing depths, as if the very essence of her being was distilled into those two glittering pools of blue, inviting me to lose myself in their tranquil beauty."My heart heavy with resistance, I felt the weight of duty set

  • Stepbrother; My Salvation    Awkward Dinner

ISABELLA The dinner was super awkward, and we barely said a word to each other. The only sound was our spoons clinking against the plates, which was kinda weird. But honestly, it was better than trying to make small talk and having an uncomfortable conversation. The whole vibe was just really tense, and I was feeling pretty uneasy. Sam attempted to break the silence, clearly uncomfortable with the quiet atmosphere. “Bella, have you settled in okay?” he asked, and I initially responded with just a nod. But when my mom shot me a warning glance, I knew I needed to play along. “Yes, Sam, thanks for asking,” I said with a hint of sarcasm, almost rolling my eyes in annoyance. Zade remained silent throughout dinner, not even bothering to glance my way. He just kept eating, his expression unreadable. My mom picked up on his unusual mood and tried to break the ice. “Zade, are you enjoying your dinner?” She was clearly proud of the effort she'd put into cooking. But Zade didn't even l

  • Stepbrother; My Salvation    BACK TO STRANGERS

ISABELLA As I quickly moved away from Zade, a wave of embarrassment washed over me. I couldn't help but hope that my mom hadn't witnessed the exchange, or worse, that she wasn't jumping to any conclusions. Panic began to set in as I thought about how she'd react - she'd be furious, and I'd have to apologize profusely. My mind was racing with different scenarios, but before I could process any of it, my mom's next words cut through my thoughts."Oh, Bella and Zade, it seems like you guys are getting along quite well," she said, a hint of a smile playing on her lips. I felt a wave of relief wash over me as I realized I must have misread the situation earlier, and I released a breath I didn't even know I was holding. Zade didn't seem fazed by the situation before my mom spoke . I wondered if he thought it was normal to have a romantic relationship with his step-sister. Did he not consider the potential consequences or the unconventional nature of their relationship? Or was he simply c

  • Stepbrother; My Salvation    ‘Can I pop your cherry, mi Tesoro?’

ISABELLA My heart sank as I turned to face Zade, his gaze piercing through me. I felt a wave of mortification wash over me, and I wished the earth would swallow me whole to escape his intense stare. He stood there, looking like he'd just stepped out of a shower, water droplets cascading down his chiselled chest from his damp hair.I couldn't help but feel like I was trapped in a rom-com, with Zade as the ridiculously handsome leading man. The kind of guy who makes your heart skip a beat just by being in the same room. His face was etched with annoyance, and I scrambled to come up with a plan to defuse the situation, desperately searching for an escape route from this awkward confrontation.I stuttered out an apology, feeling like a total jerk. "I’m sorry, I was actually looking for you to, uh, ask for a favour." Yeah, I was a horrible liar, and as soon as the words left my mouth, I knew I sounded super sketchy. But weirdly, I felt like he was actually buying it, which only made me f

  • Stepbrother; My Salvation    Exhilarated

ISABELLA The silence in the house was deafening, and I couldn't help but wonder where everyone was.I glanced around cautiously, ensuring I wasn't being followed, before making my way stealthily to the room I suspected belonged to Sam.Honestly, finding my way around this massive house was a total pain. It was like, a never-ending maze, and I was getting super frustrated trying to locate Sam's room.My instincts screamed that this was Sam's room. The door stood out - it was the largest I'd seen so far, and there was something enigmatic about it. I couldn't explain why, but everything about it felt off, and I was convinced that this was the room I was searching for.Just as I was about to enter, my phone's shrill ringtone pierced the air, freezing me in my tracks. I muttered a curse under my breath as I glanced at the screen to see who was calling at such an inconvenient time. The sight of Ariana's name on my screen slightly cleared the fog from my mind. I hesitated for a moment, wond
