I dipped my bare hands into the softened soil not minding the dirt that stored itself underneath my nails. My fingers struck metal. I dipped my hands deeper then pulled it a rusted in that was engraved with the crest of Ardonia. My hands shook as I opened it. It contained a soft portrait of Queen Rhiannon during her youthful days. She had the same eyes with Alaric's. There was a sealed letter wrapped underneath. To Alaric. The letter has the royal sigil on it, and I could recognize the handwriting from the ancient books I had once seen in the place library. It was Queen Rhiannon’s handwriting.

The word burned in his mind like a brand. He stalked past the familiar sections—Werewolf Histories, Lunar Cycles, Pack Law—until he reached the dimly lit alcove marked "Supernatural Relations." His claws pricked his palms as he yanked out the first relevant tome: The Bewitched & The Beastly: Supernatural Attractions. The wooden chair protested as he threw himself into it, the lamplight casting jagged shadows across the pages. Dust motes swirled around him as he flipped to the chapter on witches.
