The morning after the Global Trade Summit should have been quiet. It wasn’t.
I woke before sunrise. The house was still, but my mind was racing. Adrian was still sleeping, one arm thrown over the empty space I’d just left. I watched him for a minute, then slipped out of bed.
I walked barefoot to the kitchen, poured black coffee, and stood by the window. The city was waking up. So was the war.
