Chapter Thirteen I woke up to the sunshine steaming through the window. I let out a yawn and stretched my tired body out. My arms still ached from all the work from yesterday. I jumped out of the bed and quickly washed then got dressed. I could not afford upset the alpha anymore. I knew full well that if I wasn't up and making breakfast for the pack, then I would be beaten again. I prepared pancakes and helped the other omegas to set up the dining hall. It was almost seven am before we had finally got everything completed.

Something about her radiated warmth made Janice instantly like the strange woman. “Alexia,” Janice replied with her own smile. She was wearing the girl's clothes, why not steal her name as well? The woman smiled brightly and nodded. “So what brings you out on a night like this? The video call came to an abrupt halt. I stared at my reflection on the screen. It was staring back at me in disbelief. Now, I couldn't help but wonder whether it had actually happened, or whether I was hallucinating. Zoe Shamrock and I were childhood friends. I was still reeling from the sudden news, and my mind was wandering when Zoe popped up behind me and tapped my shoulder. "SAT's tomorrow, Seamus. You should be studying, not spacing out. You'll be sorry if you flunk it and don't get into Harland."

Nathan nodded his head at Miano in agreement. “Yes, Sir, I agree with you.” Amore just shooked her head. She knew from now onwards nothing will be the same. Amore closed her eyes and leaned against Nathan's arm. Amore suddenly felt drained. Nathan looked down at Amore, “I think this has been quite a day for Amore. She needs her rest, you all can come back tomorrow.” Nathan said in a none negotiable tone. Rachel frowned at Nathan. “Hey… you can't tell your mother what to do! I agree with you though, Amore needs her rest. We will see you later… NOT tomorrow, tomorrow is too far away, and I will not let you keep this beautiful soul to yourself.”

Eventually my sobs subsided and I looked up to see Amari. I had only one word to describe him. He looked broken. What would I do if Darwin was in Lily’s shoes? My heart squeezed and Drusilla howled painfully at just the thought. I gently disengaged from Katrina and sidled up to him. “Hey,” I whispered as I layed my hand softly on his arm. He jumped at the touch and turned to stare at me with wide eyes. “He used wolfsbane,” Amari whispered crazily as he shook his head like his wolf was in shock at almost losing his mate so soon after finding her.

Amaris woke to the sun shining in her window. She had slept the whole night without waking once. Something she was only able to do when she drank Grandma Beth’s special herbal tea before bed. Amaris rolled onto her back and looked around her little room at all the many years worth of decorations, posters, awards, and memories. She could hardly believe that her senior year was almost over and she would be heading off to college in the fall.
