I said nothing. I simply tilted my head to the side and showed him the mark on my neck.
“James,” I said, my voice steady, “our bond is broken. Our story is over.”
Just then, a warm voice called out from the door:
“Kendra, hurry up! We’ll be late picking up our pup!”
James turned and saw a tall, handsome soldier waving and smiling at me.
James fell heavily into his seat, eyes wide, mouth slightly open.
“I have to go,” I said softly. “My mate’s waiting. He’s waited long enough.”
