She rises, her smile polite but cool. “Hardly hiding, Dimitri. Just enjoying a moment of peace.” Her hand finds mine, squeezing gently. “Which you seem determined to interrupt.”
He chuckles, the sound carrying no real humor. “My apologies. I merely wanted to say hello to the co-host.” His gaze shifts to me, eyes glittering with something unreadable. “Mrs. Mustafin,” he greets warmly, almost genuinely.
Before either of us can respond, a young server appears at the conservatory entrance. “Miss Anastasiya,” he calls, bowing slightly. “Your husband has requested for you.”
