Vincent helped Katherine into the tandem kayak, his hands steady on her waist, lingering as she settled. "Hold on tight," he said, pushing off into the gentle waves, the paddle slicing through the water with rhythmic strokes. Katherine leaned forward, peering into the depths, her excitement bubbling over. "Look! There, a sea turtle!" Sure enough, a large green turtle surfaced nearby, its flippers paddling lazily before diving back, barnacles dotting its shell. The coral and plants thickened too, bursting with colour. Branching coral, boulder coral, table coral, anemones swaying gently with the current, all of it so vivid it felt unreal. This was so much better than the last time I went underwater.

Plants swayed with the current and before long, a small shark slowly swam by. My eyes widened as it passed us. Smooth, gray skin shined beneath the filtered light of the sun. I turned towards Shawn and Chris, pointing at the creature. Chris gave me a thumbs up and Shawn smiled behind his mouthpiece. A leopard crab scurried across the ocean floor, catching my attention. I swam deeper than the boys, following it to a large reef filled with coral and anemones. A family of black clownfish swam through the colorful plants, and I turned to see Shawn approaching to see what had caught my attention.

“Sorry. You caught me off guard and that was what I was thinking about.” “It’s fine. But what were you saying about hitchhiking?” “Oh! Crabs and amphipods have been found riding on top of or inside of their bell and young jackfish can be found swimming in and out of their tentacles. The jellies don’t mind them because they only eat other types of jellies.” She was surprised he actually cared to hear more about her totally random fact about an animal he had never heard of. But she supposed with a statement like that someone would want elaboration so they weren’t confused.

Even though I knew this couldn't possibly be true, it made everything seem ethereal and otherworldly to me because of it. As we made our way toward the shore, I noticed that a large group of people had gathered nearby and were gazing in amazement at something. When we got closer to the group, I saw that they were gazing in awe at the sea creatures that were gracefully swimming in the shallow waters. There must have been tens of thousands of different fish swimming around in the water, all of which were distinct from one another in both appearance and coloring. The majority of them were see-through and iridescent, and their scales had a shimmering quality that made them look particularly stun

Water from the fountain flowed forth to the enormous aquarium below the thick glass floor, giving the impression for the visitors that they walk over the sea.
