I nodded, reaching for the phone he held out to me. As I gazed at it for a moment, attempting to discern any clues about his friend’s pack, I let out a disappointed sigh and returned the phone to him. “Did your friend mention what kind of wolf she is?” I asked, recalling that Aurora was expected to undergo her initial shift. “Yes, a beta. She worked at a club,” he responded, and I stared at him in astonishment. “A beta?”

He fought down a smile. Liv's breaths came quickly as her eyes locked on his body. He had muscles she hadn't even known existed. He was like a marble sculpture, all hard planes and valleys, veins popping out from his extraordinary muscles. When his thumbs tugged down his briefs, her breath caught in anticipation, but he shifted before Liv could even get a glance at what was under the black cloth. She jerked in surprise. Between one blink and the next, he'd gone from a muscled Viking warrior to a huge, white wolf. He was so large she thought he looked like one of the Dire wolves from Game of Thrones.

Alexandro growled—a sound that tore through the air like thunder. His massive black wolf form took a step forward, towering over everything in the room. His fur shimmered like obsidian, the glow of the chandeliers reflecting faintly off his coat. His eyes, glowing with a savage blue, never left the assassin. I’d seen wolves before. Many. My father. I guess the prolonged argument had stretched beyond where we were standing, people started coming around to see what was going on, I returned to posture immediately, but it was already too late. Anthony arrived too, he was one of the idiots that mocked Rick and I, calling Rick an abandoned puppy. He was Alpha Thor's younger brother. According to Rick, he also wanted the position of an Alpha, he berated and looked down on Rick just like his older brother does. He turned just in time to see the Dark one closing in, and taking careful aim, he swung, hoping to hit the monster in the head. As the wood made contact, it splintered and broke into a thousand pieces, debris flying everywhere. Aaron closed his eyes and ducked his head. Once the blast was over, he looked up to find the Dark One stumbling backward and tumbling to the ground. Though the blow had caught it off guard, it wasn’t down for the count, and before the monster could get up and give chase again, Aaron launched himself at the creature, knocking it backward onto the ground.
