I reached over Noah, my chest brushing his shoulder as I grabbed the phone from the table, my eyes narrowing as I saw Adrian’s name flashing on the screen.
"What?" I barked into the receiver, my voice rough.
"Turn on the television, captain," Adrian said, his voice entirely devoid of its usual easygoing banter, sounding tight, professional, and incredibly grim. "The board didn't wait for the morning editions. They just released a statement."
Noah sat up beside me, pulling the sheet up to his chest as he watched my face, his grey eyes widening with a sudden, sharp return of the panic I’d spent all night trying to kiss out of him.
