We arrived at the school the next day for the dance. This was the first dance we were going to together as a couple. In the past few days, it seemed like we were getting closer. Alice was finding it harder to be away from Jared. When he was not doing Alpha stuff he actually spent time with her. Kaiden POV. We're going to pick apples! The were trees everywhere! But I'm too short to reach most of them. Thankfully daddy was therez he picked me up, setting me on his shoulders, now I was so high up! I could reach the apples! I got red ones! Green ones my favorite, and even some that have both colors, everyone was out there picking apples, I even saw Masha lifting Chase up to reach while River was on his own, refusing the help, instead he decided to climb over the trees and reaching for the apples on his own.

I feel sick knowing he touched me like that. I pull myself out of those thoughts and scan the area. None of the Alpha family is here yet, and I don’t see Alexis either, assuming he’s even free to walk around. I have no idea what’s going on with him or the others. Then I spot Dash behind the stage. I’ve never run so fast. I reach him in seconds. “Dash!” I tap his back. He turns. “Curls!” He gives me a big smile. “What is going on?!”

We danced through three more songs before deciding on a drink break. I had a fruity, blue concoction. I handed Macy something pineapple flavored with no liquor in it. I didn’t tell her that though. She would never know. We walked through the bar, no particular destination in sight. A commotion on the karaoke side caught my attention. “Squad! Roll out!” We headed to check out the excitement. “I have something important to discuss with you.” Her tone sent a chill down my spine. I reluctantly sat at the dining table, staring at the breakfast she’d laid out. A relative of Wes? “Don’t you think you should go find her?” Jack pulled me from my mental Rolodex. “She’ll find me.” Wes lifted the beer to his lips. “Always does.” As if on cue, a pixie of a woman emerged from the crowd, made of straight-up sunshine and rainbows in her sugar-pink dress and bright blond hair. “There you are!” She looped her arm through Wes’s, jostling his beer. “I was beginning to think you left without me!”

She never did change. She placed one of the bunnies in his arms and cotton candy in his hand then she began walking to the Ferris wheel. Shawn looked at the bunny in his arm as he followed her. It was green in color. Smiling, he increased his steps and ate off the cotton candy. A sweet sensation rushed through him and as much as he tried to convince himself that it was the candy's doing, he knew that what gladdened him was the fact that Jade never forgot his favorite color.
