I paused mid-step before slowly turning around.
“Choose your words wisely, pup,” I warned through my teeth. “Don’t start a war you can’t possibly win.”
Dwight got to his feet, rounding the table but staying far from my reach.
“You talk about war, Asha, but you know if it’s about a war, you’ve already started it!” My name sounded like poison from his lips, bitter. “Your very presence here, on this land, in this pack house is already enough to start up the biggest war you could ever imagine!” He said, taking a daring step forward but he was right and I knew it.
