“Ava, you have to—”
She understood before he finished. Her stomach dropped. She could barely stand; cutting again might tear her apart. But if they missed the archway now, they’d be swallowed.
Silas skidded to a halt, wolf eyes burning into hers. “What do you need?”
“Blood,” she whispered. “Mine.”
He didn’t hesitate. He shifted back, kneeling, cradling her against him. “Do it quick.”
Ava drew a shaky breath and pressed her palm to the dagger’s edge. Fresh pain lanced through her skin. The blade flared silver-white, runes crawling up its surface like tiny stars. She swung it once in an arc, not at the path but at the air itself.
