“Father.” “You’re late,” CEO of the ADAMSON ENTERPRISE, the largest money making company in the world, Richard Adamson replied, not bothering to look up from the slim, pocket-size tablet he held in one hand as he checked his email. Knight unfolded the cloth napkin fanned out on the plate and draped it over his lap. A waiter discreetly filled his water glass and left two leather-encased tablets containing the menu and wine list on the table before departing. “I was busy.”

She cocked her head to the side, and her lips pulled into a small smile. “You know, William really didn’t want to come here. He said you weren't worth it. And he's right. But I really wanted to see you. I wanted to witness how far from grace you’ve fallen. And right now, you look like shit. You look even worse than I imagined, but there is no shred of pity in my heart for you. I mean, you just… ruined everything. You had every single thing every human needs to make something out of their life, and this is how you decide to end up? Really? I am so disgusted by you, Asher. And I am so fucking glad that you gave me a reason to walk away from you before it was too late. You have no idea how prou

If there was one person Liam admired most in the world, aside from LeBron James, it was his uncle. He had never known anyone like Asher. At a young age, Asher had already made detective in the homicide division. His future had been bright. But at the moment he had been closest to moving even higher, he made the kind of “mistake” Liam, as a high school senior, secretly admired. During a raid, one of Asher’s fellow officers had been shot by a suspect resisting arrest. The officer hadn’t survived. Asher fired back. The man he shot was the same suspect who had killed his colleague.

Comes the order I've grown accustomed to. I lower myself to the ground, my hands under my face, my head nearly touching the floor. I hold in a breath as I wait for what will happen next. I hear Craig remove his belt. Suddenly the familiar cracking sound whips through the air, as he begins lashing his belt against my back. I keep holding my breath. Breathing only makes the pain worse. He hears me cry out, which causes him to double the lashings. I can feel blood dripping down my back from the beating. It is both creating new wounds, and opening up old ones. I shut my eyes tight, counting the strokes as he goes. Once he gets to thirteen, I slowly begin to relax. Each beating is thirteen stroke

Adeline replied in a hoarse voice, gritting her teeth. Five slashes of the whip landed on her back, tearing open her already bleeding wounds a lot wider. Her ragged clothes had turned bloody red, as though it was its original color, and yet she couldn't feel the pain anymore. She had gone numb. "Do you know what happens to those who lie?" The man's shadow left her narrow periphery, but he later returned with another equipment in hand. Adeline could only vaguely make out what it was, and she knew it ought to be painful, but just as he raised his hand, the last string holding her consciousnes together finally snapped.

He held my hand a bit longer than usual and also stared at me longer than usual which made me feel awkward. Noticing my discomfort, Asher jumped in. "I tried telling her good things about you, but you sure have no good records to your name," Asher said, giggling. "Says the man who owes me twenty bucks from the last drink you ordered," Williams shot back. "You rascal, can't you keep a secret?" Asher laughed. "A secret about money? No way. I’d love to tell your wife she married a debtor who never pays for his drinks. In fact, your whole family doesn't pay for the drinks they get here," Williams said with a chuckle.

Thomas McMahon sat in a corner with a lady, and five other VIPs, Thomas wondered what the commotion was. There was a mini crowd at the entrance, where a lady in red stood taking photographs. But Thomas did not get the full view, but from what he saw she looked damn hot. Necks in the dinner were literally breaking, just to get the full view. And soon the crowd disappeared and the hottest woman in the party walked in. Tall, beautiful, slim, black short hair. She was everything Thomas McMahon shouldn't admire, but he couldn't stop staring. "Ashley Williams." He muttered under hi
