“Make yourself at home!” Mr. Alexander Kane, Alex to his friends, but I’d always called him Mr. Kane, was nothing like the stern, distant father I’d imagined from Mia’s stories. He opened the door wearing a simple white linen shirt unbuttoned at the top and swim trunks that showed off powerful, tanned legs. At forty-five, he looked like he could still bench-press twice my weight. Broad shoulders, hair that was just the right amount of messy, and piercing blue eyes that seemed to see right through people.

"This breeze feels amazing~" He was just in shorts and slippers, black hair messy from the wind, his youthful energy practically glowing. "Ah, youth..." Kane sighed, clearly moved. Then he sneaked a glance at Sebastian - every button on his shirt in place, hair perfectly styled, face dry as a bone. One look from his boss and Kane snapped out of it, quickly retracting that thought. Austin did not listen and went closer to him then snuggled on him. “Oh Goddess, you smell!” he stood up and stormed to the room. ‘See, I told you it will work.’ Said Austin to Shannon and before she could answer Kieran showed up with clothe and threw them at Austin. “Here, go and change. You stink!” Austin growled lowly then took the clothes in his mouth and left the room. Kieran joined Shannon on the couch pulling her closer to him.

I looked different, but still like myself. The shower soon went off and Austin stepped out, his hands in his hair as he pulled it backwards. My breath hitched as he came out, shirtless, dripping, his hand in his hair. "Austin?" He turned to me, his eyes fixed on mine first, before she slowly let them fall to my shoulders, then my waist, down to my feet. I took in a deep breath. I was aware the zippers on the waist I had left open could show some of my scars, and that the omega mark was visible too once the dress had only a singlet type sleeve.

The gentleness that this man showed me at times still caught me off guard. “Shane,” I whispered. I closed my eyes and when I opened them again he was sitting up. My gaze wandered over his face before the rest of his body. He was shirtless and bleeding. How had he climbed the wall in his state? “The ladies were all over me today,” he said gruffly. “They wouldn’t let me keep my shirt.” When the words registered I wanted to hit him and cry at the same time. “I barely got out with my pants.”

I bang on the door hard ready to start yelling at soon as it opens, but the words stick on my toungue like glue when it does. Kane is wearing only a pair of grey sweats. I've seen him shirtless probably more time than I've seen him wear one, so why am I suddenly thrown off by the sight of his abs? He crosses his arms over his chest and leans against the doorway like he doesn't have a care in the world. "Cat got your tongue?" I shove past him. Landon isn't here which is probably for the best. Kane shuts the door then goes to sit in his computer chair.

He straightened up, towering over her, his presence suddenly cold enough to frost the windows. "I don't serve 'God’s creatures,' and I certainly don't serve 'Blessed Ones,'" Austin stated, his voice a flat, metallic rasp that cut through her sweetness like a chainsaw. "My hands, my blades, and my very breath have only ever belonged to one person. And you aren't her." Selene’s smile twitched. "I only meant..." "I know what you meant," Austin interrupted. He reached up, unbuttoning the top three buttons of his Ventus tunic with a slow, deliberate motion. He pulled the fabric aside, revealing the tan, scarred skin of his pectoral muscle.
