We were now sitting in the dining room. Lunch was ready to be served at any time. Beta Arthus had left. A strange fellow if you asked me. He clearly belonged to a stable pack, was a dominant personality, and from the conversations I had with him, it appeared that he was very intelligent. This intelligence amazed me, considering he’d lost his way to his destination. That didn’t add up, but all the evidence was there. The mechanic reported his GPS was indeed dysfunctional, and there was also an envelope with the Alpha decal that read 'top secret' in the backseat of his car.

I barked. “I did give you a cure. A stake through her heart. Will end your misery and, from the looks of it, hers. A useless sheltered life she’s led.” Max joked. “Regardless, I’ve made a promise, not only to Amelia but to myself. I will not harm a human over that thing.” I declared. “I won’t tell if you won’t.” Max shrugged, and he almost made me smile. If only the thoughts of that thing weren't running around my head since she got here, I would have been able to give a normal reaction to one of my friend’s jokes.

I breathed. The mech was a hulking, bulky thing, its armour a mottled combination of greens and browns and laced with exposed electrical cables. It looked like a mech built by Doctor Frankenstein himself, a combination of conflicting colours and confusing parts. Just like Yamantau, I could now recognize the cylindrical shape of an energy shield almost completely buried in the armour of each mech. Only the tip of the shield was visible above the mottled mech's armour, a flat circle of metal peeking out above the blue dome. An identical mech joined it a second later, and the two began slowly marching towards us like an approaching storm.

“But… what kind of surgery are you about to have?” “It’s a little hard to explain. You know Colonel Rhodey in the Avengers, right?” “The other Iron Man? Oh, what was his name again?” “Yes. War Machine. You remember when he got injured in Civil War?” Kate’s eyes light up. “Oh right! After that, he was wearing those high-tech leg braces designed by Tony Stark.” “Exactly. Except I won’t have any leg or arm braces. It’ll still be me. My own limbs, the bones inside my skin etc.”

But that wasn’t why they wanted to capture it. All of them were painted in a greyish silver, which gave them a sense of authority. But things that didn't belong to human mechs were installed on these human mechs. For example, limbs, wings, tails, scale armor, and so on. And these three deformed mechanical creatures all shared a common feature: they all had a triangular jet nozzle on top of their heads.

Azrael’s eyes widened while staring at me. “Alice! What kind of battle attire is that?! It’s too revealing!” he said, and I saw his ears beet red. Val and I chuckled. I was wearing a half armored attire showing my cleavage, my curves and half of my legs. My blue and white armor suit fits comfortably in my body and it feels nostalgic. It’s been a long time since I wore my armor. I have a blue cape that reaches my knees, and long armored white boots that cover above my knees.

Everything looked untouched and too clean. I shook my head to dispel my thoughts and grabbed one of Victor's thick leather belts from his selection. When I returned to Sin, he was on all fours and the bottom half of his legs had broken and began morphing into the hind legs of a canine. Tufts of dark brown fur began sprouting from his skin and his nails had elongated into claws. "Here, bite down on this," I doubled the belt and held it out for him. Without being told twice, he lunged forward and sank his teeth into the leather which helped a considerable amount.

She remembered smoking a few during a stint in the Irian Jaya Conflict. “You ok there big guy?” Sol asked, patting her friend on the shoulder. “I’m ok iha” Leyland smiled, placing his hand on Sol’s. “You know how it is with these guys right? Big money, with big jobs also means big risks right?” She didn’t reply, but only smiled back in reassurance. The gate opened, and two cyborgs clad in suits appeared. The two wear heavily augmented, their hands were clearly mechanical and their visors were built on to their eyes. Sol could see the plated lining of the armor on their skin and the extensive wiring that seemed to cover their knecks.
