CHAPTER 11 Nova Sterling Point Of View “Look.” Vangh's lips brush my ear as he points to his chest. A fake tattoo stretches across his breast, reading “Property of Alpha House.” Which now peels off like old wallpaper. His real tattoo markings surface underneath. It’s a rebel symbol hidden all along, a secret no one knows. Sloane appears beside us, stretching her knife at Vaughn's throat. “You lying bastard.” Her wedding dress smells of burnt sugar- sharp and sweet. “How long have you been working for the rebels?”

she grinned, holding the presentation up. Signing in was basic - simply a thumbprint, and she saw the value menu for her own self spring up on screen. Four glossy fastens, each addressing its very own classification adjacent to her grinning, vivified photograph and her name. Seeing the tattoo on her neck in the photograph made her range up to stroke her fingers along the somewhat kindled skin once more, shuddering.

His breath caught, shoulders trembling. Avi continued, voice barely above a whisper: “I choose the mark.” Cain’s lips parted, disbelief and raw emotion flooding his face. “You… you’re sure?” His voice broke. She nodded. “Your mark will be enough for me. Our bond will be like Mikan and Tia’s. Equal. Eternal. No politics. Just us.”

Brian's eyes widened, his pupils shrinking as he stared at me in disbelief, like he was seeing me for the first time. I didn't bother with his reaction. Instead, I walked over to my painting and pointed at a barely noticeable spot in the bottom-right corner. "Every single one of my paintings has a unique mark." My finger stopped at a delicate insignia—an 'R' entwined with a tiny rose. "This is my signature."

I must've been so distracted with making her mine that I didn't know we were watched from afar. After our love making, I took out an insignia of the House of Raavan. A outline of a dove that every Karza resident has except for me and mother because we are not locals. I wanted to have them branded on me for so long but I could never find the right time to do it - until today. I tell my Marie to head the small iron poker with the insignia and brand the symbol on my left chest. She herself has one on hers but it was there naturally. Almost like a birthmark but white compare to the insignia that will be put on mine.

Ava says, dropping the last few feet to the alley. She slips in through the shadows toward the unmarked steel door. Two guards in black flank it, faces flat, eyes scanning. Ava smooths her coat, adjusts the simple black mask covering the lower half of her face, and walks toward them like she owns the block. “Invite,” one of them says, palm out. She produces a matte-black card, no name, just an embossed silver infinity symbol. It's one of Cass’s more illegal little miracles. The guard runs it under a scanner. Her HUD flashes:

It wasn’t as grand as the first two gifts, but it was nevertheless still surprising. Basically, he had designed an intricate logo that represented his love for Xavia. It included the number thirty-nine, as well as a jasmine flower in the background. That, however, wasn’t the end of the gift. Long story short, he had the logo tattooed right above his crotch!
