Aaron rubs his eyes and looks instantly at what is written on the paper. "Where is Dr. Samantha?" The sentences are written on the paper, which is held by Damon in his hand. "I don't know, Damon." Peter lied as Aaron told him to. Damon didn’t like the answer at all. He takes a pillow from the couch and throws it on Peter's face. Ava shut her mouth, covering her mouth with her hand before a chuckle escaped from her mouth. As the pillow touches Peter's face, the pillow falls down. Peter blinks his eyes twice before he looks at Damon.

Jacob's eyes grew wide, filled with fear, as he trembled involuntarily. “Wait! Wait … it was Peter. As a result, my thoughts rushed back to my previous nightmare, and it took all in me not to tremble in front of Dr. Melendez.

"Peter," I said softly, sliding off the desk despite the way the room spun around me. "Look at me." He raised his eyes reluctantly, and I was shocked by the naked vulnerability I saw there. "The Shadow Alpha just spent the last few minutes trying to convince me to drain all of your power and leave you as empty husks," I told him bluntly. "You know what stopped me?"

He adjusted his suit, gave a small nod to the General, then walked calmly toward Dr. Myles. His calmness was different from Alpha James’. It was less commanding, more controlled, like he was playing a game no one else knew the rules to. “Dr. Myles,” Peter began, smiling politely, “you’ve testified that Billy Campbell had enough wolfsbane in his system to weaken or even kill a rogue. He backed off slightly and looked down at me, enjoying seeing me panic. "Why are you so anxious?" he asked, his eyes glinting darkly as his gaze swept over me once more. I tried my best to curl up into a fetal position, but I couldn't move my limbs at all. They felt like they had all frozen in place, and no amount of struggling would work. "Stop fighting it," Jared said, looking at me with fake pity. "It's going to be even harder for you if you accidentally trigger the Punishment Mode." I didn't want to know what that meant, and I certainly didn't want to try to understand the playful glint in Jared's eyes.
