He smiled and pulled me even closer, until I was practically lying on top of him.
"I can work with that," he said.
I rested my head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat.
"This feels like the first real morning of my new life," I said softly, my voice still feeling new and powerful every time I used it.
"New life?" Callum asked.
"The old one ended when I died," I explained. "The in-between one was when I came back but was still hiding and planning and pretending. This one, right now, is real. No more secrets. No more hiding. Just me, actually living instead of just surviving."
