Ellie’s POV “What do you think?” Sarah held up the flags she had just spent the last hour working on. One was bright red with yellow lines cutting back and forth through it, and the other was white and black checkered. I tapped my chin, studying the flags, then nodded. “Those are perfect. We’ll make the vests with the same colors. Thank you.” My friend grinned and set the flags into the box labeled “Capture the Flag”, then picked up the to-do list and ticked that off. Looking at me through her lashes, she said, “I can’t believe Dominic tried to make Vivian your assistant.”

“Raghav of Blackrock. Yes.” The fifth pack, Nightclaw, had voted no. Their beta stood alone on the left. No one jeered. Vikram walked to him after. “You’re still welcome here,” Vikram said. “Accord protects even those who don’t agree.” The beta nodded, jaw tight. “For now.” Then came the naming. Vikram pulled the cloth off the new flag. Five colors braided into one circle. In the center, a tree with five roots. “For centuries, we asked ‘Which pack are you?’” Vikram raised the flag. “From today, we ask ‘Are you valleyborn?’”

Then it was time for the flags to be hoisted. The Royal flag carried the same Dragon and Wolf Yin and Yang symbol of Iris and Dom, which was hoisted by the couple. Then, the World Union flag was hoisted and had six circles in a hexagon, each representing a fraction of the world, Dragons, Werewolves, Witches, Vampires, Humans, and Minorities.

What annoys me more is his acceptance of defect. The streetlights lining the driveway illuminated the flags clearly as the symbol came fully into view. My lips parted before I could stop myself. “Riverwoods Pack…” Alpha Dreadlock’s eyes immediately shifted toward me. “What did you say?” At first, I thought I had been mistaken when I recognized the flag attached to one of the convoys. But I wasn’t. The symbol embroidered on the flag…. Two crescent moons curved against each other while the tail of a wolf slashed through the center. “General Alpha Kayak.” Zaden chirped, taking a step forward. Alpha Dreadlock’s gaze moved toward the convoy once more, and this time he saw it clearly too.

Lillianna cried out unable to help herself. He just imprinted his initials onto her body… He pressed it so hard holding her arm hard so she could not go anywhere. He kept it pressed for a few minutes before he pulled it off her. She was in tears. AJ assessed the result before he turned her around roughly and showed the mark to Tristan. “What does that say?” He asked. “It says AJ… AJ… She is now marked. I have branded her as my own. Is that enough for you to understand that she belongs to me!”

Her eyes are always working, scanning, plotting, I trust her brain more than I trust mine. Down below, boots scuff across packed dirt. Those Blood Fang banners? Black with a red fang tearing through, waving like they’re already celebrating. Dark Storm’s flag is there too, that deep red under Luca’s crest. Mira promised an army, and damn, she brought one. Enough to make a king sweat.
