She looked at the dual weapons, then at her reflection in a polished shield.
The girl staring back was familiar, but transformed. Pale skin, sharpened canines just visible, and those impossible eyes—one blood, one gold.
"I can do this," she said, to herself as much as anyone.
Cara appeared beside her, holding out a pair of specialized sunglasses. "For the light sensitivity. And these." She offered earplugs that looked high-tech. "Gradual filters. Start at 90% noise reduction, work your way down."
As the team loaded into the armored transport, Amy took the seat beside Bryan. He looked at her, really looked, and saw the fear beneath the determination.
