I sighed. “Then we have to make sure he doesn’t see you,” I said, already moving to the closet. I had no idea what Ava owned, so I just grabbed the biggest, darkest thing I could find: a faded black hoodie with holes in the cuffs and what looked like a burn mark on one shoulder. “Put this on. Keep the Hood up, and your head down. If you don’t want to see anyone, we’ll find a path where you won’t.” She stared at the hoodie like it was a snake. The phone buzzed again, and this time she stuffed it deep in her pocket, still not answering. I wondered what it was like to be so wanted and so unable to answer the call.

I fold it and drop it into the basket. Next, something I think he might like. I spot a black Henley shirt, the kind with buttons at the collar and sleeves that hug the arms just right. It looks casual but strong, practical. I have no doubt he’d wear it without complaint. Lastly, something I like. I hesitate, scanning the racks, then spot a faded blue hoodie with soft worn edges and a front pocket. It looks… cozy. Familiar. The kind of thing I’d steal on a rainy day. I smile and add it to the basket.

The hoodie looked very comfy and big but the black denim jacket was the one that would go with her outfit even though when she took it from him and wore it, she basically drowned in it but damn it was warm, comfy and smelled like him making her glad that she forgot her own jacket.

"Like... small as in able to fit me kind of small." Cayden sighs and nodded. "Yeah... thought they looked cool and bought them online. Doesn’t help we had just watched that movie about traveling pants that fit everyone so we were convinced it was meant to be. Your lips are blue from being so cold, so forgive me if I don’t give a flying fuck how big it is on you as long as it keeps you warm.”
