Wayland asks, sly and pleased, tightening his arms around me.
“No,” I huff, wiping away the betraying tear. “I’m worried about those idiots who dare challenge you,” I say proudly, lifting my chin and rising from his lap. “Let’s go home—it’s getting chilly.”
The Alpha looks at me for a few seconds, then takes off his T-shirt and puts it on me over my sundress. It smells like him—pleasant and masculine—and still holds the warmth of his body. The fabric is relatively thin, but I feel significantly warmer, maybe because of the gesture itself, or maybe because now I have to stare at the shirtless pack leader, and the heat is rising in me on its own.
