I clung to the edge of his desk, shaking, desperate.
“No,” I whispered. “You can’t just—no, Regan, you promised. Back in college, you promised me. You said if we ever got the chance—”
“I remember what I said,” he cut in, voice soft but firm. “And I’ll keep my word. I’ll support you and the baby. You’ll never lack anything—”
“I don’t want support!” I snapped, tears pouring down now, burning my skin. “I don’t want your f*cking money or pity, Regan—I want to be your wife! I want to carry your name!”
