“How do you feel?” She was silent for a moment before shrugging. “I don’t know. I feel way too much to pick out one emotion.” “Say the first thing that comes to your mind.” “Terrified. I smiled and snuggled closer to him, resting my hand on his chest. He smelled manly, and his breath was still rapid and uneven. “I’m so glad you were my first, Dad,” I told him honestly. “I told you it was a bad idea to jump into it with some inexperienced boy,” he said. “You were right,” I agreed. “I can’t imagine a better first time.” We were still and quiet for a while, and then something occurred to me. I had to satisfy my curiosity. “So, Dad... why did you come home early from your trip?” I asked.

He drove us home. He dropped me onto the bed. A wide grin appeared across his lips. He quickly undressed himself, I watched as his dick fell out of his underwear. That big guy was making me smile in my head. " You did a great job by making sure we weren't caught." He breathed, Crawling into the bed, he leaned forward landing his soft lips against mine. Then a photo of his first tooth, and a blurry one of his first steps in Grandma’s backyard. “I made them so that whenever you finally met him, you could at least relive those moments,” I said. But seeing the book in his large, powerful hands, I felt a wave of immense guilt. I had made him miss the real thing. I had kept him from the smell of his newborn son and the sound of those first steps. He was silent for a long time, his thumb tracing the edge of a photo of Finn sleeping as a toddler. “Are you okay?” I asked, my voice cracking. I was terrified he would be angry.

“I want to be there for you, and for our baby. Whatever you need. If you depend on me, even for little things at first, I can show you I mean it.” “I don’t know.” “Here! Look.” He reached into his knapsack at the foot of the bench and pulled out two books. He held them up for me and I skimmed the titles. They were books on parenting. “I want to be a good father,” he said. I slightly thawed, impressed by the bent spines and marked pages of the books. He’d been studying. He lowered his books down onto the empty space on the opposite side of him. “I’ve made mistakes, Cynthia. I was an idiot kid. So many women all around me kept throwing themselves at me and I was too weak to reject them.”

I instinctively shifted to the side to hide the damp patch on my blouse before looking up at him. "What do you mean?" I asked. My eyes flicked past him toward the trampolines. The sight of Julian and Lydia playing there gave me the courage to speak up. The man chuckled. "I'm Finneas Zurick, Zachary's dad. We met at the kindergarten parent meeting," he began. "I've been thinking about you ever since then. I've been wondering when we'd finally get a chance to talk." His words grew more improper by the second. A faint blush spread across my cheeks as I studied him.
