FOREVER BOUND IN DARKNESS
It was like a nightmare I couldn’t wake up from.
I clenched my fists, wishing there was something I could do.
Emilio was holding his own, but I could see he was getting tired. Sweat dripped down his face, and his breaths were coming faster. My dad, on the other hand, barely looked tired at all. He was so strong, so sure of himself.
“Give up, boy,” my dad said, his voice like thunder. “You can’t win.”
“Never,” Emilio spat back, his voice defiant. He lunged again, but this time, my dad caught his arm and twisted it. Emilio cried out in pain, and I felt like someone had punched me in the stomach.
