As she spoke, Freya noticed Kenneth had been stiff for a while. He kept blinking rapidly and swallowing hard, like he was struggling to keep something down—feelings, maybe even tears.
She understood. Deep down, he was just as moved as she was.
“Lastly,” Freya felt teary-eyed again. She had to take a deep breath before finally concluding, “I promise to be your best friend, your number one supporter, and your forever.”
“I love you so much.”
