By midday, my head was heavy from memorizing family trees that stretched back five generations, but I did not complain.
Even though it was exhausting, I was enjoying the process somehow. At least, no boring days anymore till I'm done with the lessons.
If Kaius wanted me busy, then I would be busy properly.
The only time I truly felt awake was during herbology study. It was my favorite.
The herb master was an older woman with sharp eyes and stained fingers. The moment she placed bundles of plants in front of me, something inside me settled.
“This,” she said one afternoon, placing a dark green sprig in my hand, “is night balm and it is good for burns.”
