Kingdom of Ash and Blood

Kingdom of Ash and Blood

“We’re not the public, sorella. We’re history.” Her eyes narrow, but after a tense pause, she unlocks a gate and gestures us through. The vault smells of parchment and candle smoke. Scrolls line the shelves like bones in a crypt. And there—beneath a glass case—lies the Codex. A crimson-bound book, the leather embossed with the sigil of a serpent devouring its own tail. I am not a good reader but I still can't stop myself from reading a lot of books about keeping calmness in my heart. If you ask me why I read those kinds of books, I will give you a lot of answers you would be pleased to hear." "I wish that was easy to actually do. I am more of a fan of historical books. I like reading about the dark ages and how medieval men lived their lives when the Catholic Church was killing millions of innocent people in the name of God." "So, you do read a lot?" NOTE BEFORE YOU READ….. Note before you read… The next few chapters are written in the Carolingian Renaissance and the Vikings era but don't stick to the fact. You will find a few things that have been added to fit into the story. So if you find anything strange or unusual, then remember the next few chapters are based on historical fantasy fiction books. It was a loud night, one where the sounds of crickets chirping could not be heard and the clouds smothered the moon and stars.

At the center of the library was a grand table, surrounded by plush chairs, where ancient scholars and advisors often discussed matters of importance for the development of Eleneas which was nothing but a castle in the midst of lush green forests. I made my way towards a shelf, admiring the titles of the books. There were books on history, architecture, politics, philosophy, and even magic. My eyes fell upon a familiar title, 'The Castle Of Eleneas,' the written history of our kingdom. I pulled it out and opened it to a random page, reading about the wars waged by our ancestors. My ancestors.

Loving The Mad King

Loving The Mad King

What a silly question! Of course it was a real war. Odette had to remember that she was currently in the medieval era. The Middle Ages was an era of transition from ancient to modern times. In this era, there were still many wars between rulers. Anwen informed her that three days ago, at that place, there was a war between the Redragon army of Arcadia and the Panthera army. "Initially, we struggled a little because the number of enemies was more than ours. But my brother quickly cut down the number of enemies, and we finally won when my brother managed to kill Duke Redragon," Anwen explained.

he whispered. "...because blood remembers." Lucien smiled for the first time since entering the library. "Now you're asking the right questions." Adrian barely heard him. His attention had shifted to another shelf. Hundreds of journals stood in perfect order. Each spine carried nothing except a year. 1348. 1349. 1350. 1351. 1352. 1353 Years that historians associated with plague, war, conquest, or catastrophe. He pulled one volume halfway from the shelf. "Why these years?" Elias didn't stop him.
