Betrayed And Claimed By The Lycan King Novels & Stories

My heart pounds as I stand in front of Nickolas's bedroom door, a bowl of medicine in my hand. It's a strange turn of events—I'm the one who almost lost my life, yet it's Nickolas who now needs herbs to recover. Because of what he did, I'm almost fully healed, but I can’t say the same for him. Beatrice told me he sustained some injuries while he fought the lycans, and on top of that, he gave me his blood. Beatrice explained that his status as the king of lycans is the only thing keeping him from being bedridden. If he were an ordinary lycan, he would be fighting for his life right now.

As if I was bewitched, I couldn't take my eyes off him. That foolish lying-on-ground fellow tried to get up. But he was only getting trapped more and more. As if the earth was betraying him, dragging him in the reach of the demon. That scene caught my interest. I could sense he was a Lycan king. Still, his powers were beyond imagination.

I felt a strange feeling of need and despair, as if I needed something to calm my nerves. Tristan poured another drink, his fingers brushing mine as he offered. "So, Veronica, who is this guy that's giving you so much trouble?" I took a sip and let the alcohol burn my throat before answering. "These are the Lycan Kings, Lucas and Simon." Tristan's eyebrows furrowed. "Ah, twins. They have a good reputation. And you alone." I nodded, feeling the warmth of the drink spread through me. "Yes. I don't think I want to bring it."

The events of the past day flooded my memory, and I plopped down on the bed in defeat. "Who brought me here?" I asked. "Damien, the Lycan King." She shrugged, and my heart stopped. It couldn't be. This had to be some sick joke from nature. Of all the people in the world to be my mate, it had to be the Lycan King. A wolf feared by all throughout the kingdom. I marvelled at how, in less than a day, I had gone from almost getting married to the love of my life to finding out he was having a child with my best friend and then almost getting killed by rogues if not for the timely appearance of my mate.

Whatever waited beyond the southern borders, whatever new challenge eventually arrived to test everything we'd built together, I understood, standing there in the warm glow of a hard-won peace, that we'd face it exactly the way we'd faced everything since that very first night. Chosen. Together. However many times, however many crises, however many old grievances and ancient threats and scattered bloodlines still waited beyond the borders we understood. I hadn't broken, that first night in the Great Hall. I'd found, instead, exactly the life worth building — one choice, renewed daily, at a time. END OF BOOK ONE (The Lycan King's story continues in Book Two: Kingdom of the Southern Fires)

Linc replies. “Lilah, you could lose your life.” Callie whispers at me. Sadness shining through her honey eyes. “My life was lost long ago.” I turn to Linc. “Offer me as a trade.” He smiles at me, nodding his head. “You, Lilah, the future Queen of Lycans, are something else.” Linc follows the tracks through the forest. Letting us know that he wasn’t alone. He knew that Grant and Magnus’s Beta were with him. It wasn’t long before we found the Beta. He was dangling from a tree branch, a noose around his neck.

“And here you are again, asking for more help. Every time I help you, it spells trouble. Honestly, there’s nothing you can offer me anymore. I’m sick of your wide pussy.” Lyka’s face burned with humiliation and anger, but she forced herself to stay calm. She walked over to the bed, sat down, and crossed her legs. “What if I told you I have something more valuable than my body? Something that could actually help you.” Ryan raised an eyebrow. “What do you know?” Lyka took a deep breath. “The Lycan King has started investigating the Silver Clan pack. You know… Myra’s mother’s pack. The one you overthrew.”

I asked, and he walked closer; his presence filled the room. “I am Ares Draven.” My heart stopped. The name spread through every pack in the north. The ruler of the Lycans. “The Lycan King?” He nodded once. “Yes.” Shock filled me. “What am I doing in the Lycan kingdom?” “You collapsed in the forest,” he said. “Dead rogues surrounded you.” I lowered my eyes. “My wolf…” A woman in a healer's robe stepped into the room. “Your Majesty,” she said while looking at Ares.

"You... you murdered the old King?" "We took care of a problem," Rowan corrected coldly. "But we made one massive mistake. We let his son live. We thought a useless pup wouldn't survive the winter alone. But Cassian didn't die. He crawled into the shadows, built himself an army of loyalists, took back his crown, and now he's the Lycan King. He’s spent years waiting for the perfect moment to destroy us. And this Peace Gathering? This is his move." The room went completely silent, save for the quiet ticking of the grandfather clock in the corner.

Turning back to human form and looking to the king as he also realises that the advantage has changed. "They betrayed you" I yelled at the king. "The wolves you thought were coming to help you, have turned on you" the lycan king growls watching as his side becomes more outnumbered. "You were never meant to rule us, leave before your wiped out" I say, my voice refilling with power. He doesn't back down though, instead he growls again, his eyes black with rage.
