"You won’t get past me." Dexter tilted his head. "Do you even know what you are, Reya? Do you think your power is natural? That your children were born by accident?" I moved fast. My blade sang through the air—but it never touched him. With a flick of his wrist, shadows erupted from the floor, knocking me back against the stone wall. Pain burst down my spine. Lycan Xander growled, launching at Dexter, his claws aimed for his throat. The rogue turned, caught Lycan Xander mid-air, and slammed him to the ground like a toy. "You Lycans are all brawn, no brain."

“I’m a magic wielder,” I stated with certainty. Xander looked perplexed. He knew that in our world, there were only three types of beings: shifters, wielders, and humans. I was a wielder, plain and simple. Despite his confusion, Xander went to the bathroom to examine the bite mark on his shoulder once again. “We need to investigate this further. I’ve never heard of anything like this happening,” he said, his voice serious. “Was your mother a wielder as well?”

“No need. They already have one and if they require anything else, I’m sure Ruo Han can handle it.” Stunned that there was going to be an alpha and alpha couple in the academy, the bat demon froze for a solid minute before she shuffled off in a dazed manner. While it was technically possible to have an alpha and alpha pairing, it has never happened in the history of Time Cross Academy. They had a few omega and omega couples but never a double alpha pair. The ground cracked. Trees were blown back. The night sky lit up gold. We attacked. Xander fought like a shadow, slipping under the beast’s limbs, and cutting deep. Ryder blasted it with magic, weakening its fire. I raised both hands, and light surged toward it, burning through the darkness.
