“You were in the water.” The man didn’t blink. “I was beneath it. Same as you, one day.” “What do you want?” The man finally smiled, but it was sharp and cold. “To prepare you. To remind you. The Seed beneath the sea isn’t like the one in the woods. The forest remembers. The sea… forgives nothing.” Ezra’s blood chilled. “What does that mean?” “It means you’re running out of time.” Before Ezra could respond, the man simply vanished—no shimmer, no sound. Just… gone.

I looked up at me, "It's no longer any of your business, Ian. We're about to get divorced." Ian reached out to take the luggage from me easily, as my hands no longer had much stamina in them. I hissed with pain, and he anxiously held it, but I flung his hand away. "Tia…" He called out my nickname softly. If this were three months ago, I would probably be touched by the affection in his voice, but I was already numb from everything. "Why are you having regrets now? Are you really concerned about me, or are you regretting that these hands can no longer help you deal with your migraine?"
