Veins bulge on his face as he said. James stepped back, feeling intimidated. "I will investigate, sir." Victor's eyes blazed. "Find out who betrayed us. I want answers." James nodded his head hastily and responded "Yes, sir." As James fled, Victor's thoughts swirled. Who could have exposed them? And why? He paced as his mind raced with different thoughts, when suddenly, his phone buzzed. A text from an unknown number: "You will never win." Victor's eyes narrowed at the cryptic message. Who dared challenge him?

"He told them the truth, Jessica." I felt like the car was closing in on me, the walls pressing tighter and tighter. "What truth?" I asked softly. Lloyd met my eyes in the rearview mirror, his voice grim. "That you're the child from eighteen years ago—the reason Bellum Mortis began." My blood ran cold, but he kept going, his words like knives. "The child of prophecy—the one destined to destroy us all."

She growled bitterly. "Your fate and the prophecy were both known to him. He has faith in you to bring harmony back to the world and fulfill the prophecy." Zara muttered bitterly, "But now his soul's trapped." "Only until the war has ended," Beta John stated. "The whole prophecy is still a mystery. No one knows the actual meaning of the prophecy," I added with an air of sourness. Beta John locked eyes with me. "On the war's first anniversary, Celia had a vision," he stated.

he asked. "Perfect," I said. He nodded, satisfied, as though this was the outcome he had expected. "Did you take it?" "Provisionally. Confirmation by Friday." I set my keys on the counter. "I also negotiated the renewal terms." "What did you get?" I told him. He looked at me for a moment and then said: "Caroline must have been surprised." "She recalculated," I said. "People do, when the argument makes sense." He smiled, brief and real. "Sit down. I want to walk you through something in the Hartley documents before you spend the afternoon on the proposal."

I repeated the prophecy. “What angel will do what?” Hana asked, wrapping her arms around my neck as she leaned around to kiss my cheek. “I’m sorry my father’s call disturbed you.” I apologized. “And it’s just an old prophecy my stupid brother Bert wants to act on.” “Wait, you mean the blue moon prophecy? The shit that Delilah is dealing with as we speak with a crazy witch and her werewolf descendants trying to steal Alexander’s sperm?” Hana asked, moving to sit next to me.

“This isn’t some underground poker scandal. Someone broke into Bianca’s apartment. People are impersonating federal agents. And now we’ve got dead lowlifes dropping hints about Colden?” Her gaze flicked to mine then. Steady. Calculating. “We’re on the right trail,” she said. “You heard what he said before he blacked out.” I didn’t reply. I’d heard it, all right. Just one word, slurred and gurgling through bloodied lips. Colden. A ghost from our past. A man who should’ve been exiled to the shadows, yet somehow always clawed his way back. “Do you think he sent them to get to me?” I asked, quietly now.

I looked at him defiantly, "So long as you have fulfilled your vanity. I am sure you will be happy now." He didn't even look bothered as he leisurely sipped some coffee from the cup he was holding in his left hand. "That's what happens to those who dare betray me. This is just the beginning; be ready to expect more," he declared. "Anyway, make sure you get on your best health because in two days, we are going to California. It's my grandfather's seventy-sixth birthday. You have to be there. You have to make sure you don't look like this two days later. You look like crap."

“And I’m the only one who knows how it ends.” His words hit me like a punch to the gut. “That’s impossible,” I said, narrowing my eyes. “The prophecy is centuries old. No one could have lived through it and survived.” Malachi chuckled, a sound that sent a shiver down my spine. “Not quite. The prophecy is a cycle. It’s happened before—and it will happen again. Unless...” He let the word hang in the air, savoring its weight. “Unless what?” I demanded, my patience wearing thin.

he makes air quotes -“end times. He even convinced a few humans.” “Right. Goddess,” I mutter. “Is it? Did he have like a prophecy or something?” My Beta laughs softly .”Will you listen to yourself?” “Well, Weiland, I don’t know everything. He may very well be right.” “He’s not right!” the Beta roars. “If he were, don’t you think our priestesses and mages would have told us?” I settle back in my chair and shoot a piercing look at my friend. “Would they have? Because apparently, you’ve known for years, and this is the first time you’ve bothered to mention it.”

Bryco admitted sadly. Feli approached him and his sister grabbed his arm. “Don't fight against the prophecy, brother. The prophecy I revealed is far from your decision. Perhaps, I did not see any mortal in the prophecy. Instead I saw two wolves. I saw you and your mate staring at each other under the full moon,” said Feli. Bryco tried to smile. He swallowed and took a deep breath to calm himself somehow. “Go to the palace first and tell our father that I will come after I fix myself,” said Bryco.
