MY WILD OBSESSION
I step out and run straight back to Hardin.
This time, I throw my arms around him tighter than before. He catches me easily, folding me into his chest as one hand moves over my back in slow, grounding strokes.
“Thank you so much,” I whisper, my voice thick with everything I’m not saying. For the car, for the flowers, and for the fact that he actually figured it out. He pulls back just enough to hold my gaze.
Then, with everyone watching, he speaks.
“Happy birthday to my wife… and the love of my life.”
