Nothing about this young woman made any sense to him. Not the circumstances of how she ended up here. Not the ability that she had to have in the physical sentence to make it here from the village period to the point that she had survived with some major injuries, but she managed to fight through those as well. She was literally a walking miracle. Now that they might have idea of what had possibly happened, it just made her even more important and miraculous. The simulation that they had just watched they still playing through both of their heads when they looked at her. No matter what they spoke of, that's what they saw in their mind's eye. Somebody had tried to kill her.

“Good. I want to deal with this matter as soon as possible. “I understand how urgent this matter is but please be a little patient. Good things don’t come easily as the saying goes” “There was another matter I instructed you to investigate almost the same period. Do you still remember? “Yeah, about the woman you defended. “ “I would like to know whether she survived, because when I came back from pursuing the man, she was no longer there. It was as if she disappeared on the face of the earth. She was in bad shape and I wanted so badly to help her.”

"He saw the Brood wouldn’t attack you. You survived somehow... how did you do it?" Her question caught me off guard. My foggy mind still couldn’t grasp that I’d been saved, taken far from the pack, and that something would be asked of me in return. "I... I don’t know. I thought I was going to die..." I said, knotting the sheets in my fingers. Cruel memories slid in like knives driven into my soul. I survived, but my son didn’t. A shadow blocked the light over my head. When I looked up, the woman had stepped closer.

"Then how the hell did you survive?" Nathan hesitated, glancing toward the ruins. "I don’t know. I could swear I died. A woman—cloaked, covered in shadow—pulled me from the fire. She said she was sent to make sure I lived. That was all. I woke up outside the village. Everyone else was gone." A part of me wanted to hug him. It's really really surprising that he survived, but I'm not sure I've ever been more glad to see someone, and I couldn't even tell why.

Clearly, this man was out to get her, clearly a message to you!” I walk over to the bed, brushing her hair back.
