Black veins emanated from the cuts, racing up her arm as if corrupt roots searching for a foothold. "No!" I screamed in frustration and broke away from the two who were attacking me to get to her. "Victory!" Cassian's mother laughed in pure enjoyment. “That would be the shadowvenom,” she proudly declared. “Especially engineered for decades of painstakingly conducted research to corrupt Luna essence at the source. I lifted her upright slightly, cradling her against myself, but her body sagged limply, another cough sending crimson down the front of her underclothes. And then I saw it. Around the faint red punctures, her skin had begun to discolor-a purplish hue spreading slowly outward like ink bleeding through paper. Then, the two began concocting their potions in the courtyard. After a while, Western Venom held up a jet-black pill and coldly said, "Kid, my Devil's Pill is ready. Dare you to take it?" As he spoke, his eyes were full of provocation. Stephen couldn't help but taunt by saying, "I bet he won't dare to take it! If he does, without Western Venom's antidote, he's as good as dead!" Even ordinary people could see that the black pill contained deadly poison. Western Venom had concocted it using venomous insects, poisonous plants, and toxic flowers.
