Instead, Gremory laughed like a mad man. "Your little wolves can't do shit, Lucien!" He snarled. "This time, I came prepared. Your reign ends today." He pulled out the jar from his pocket and whipped it open. The sky roared suddenly, and thunder crashed. The day turned into night, and a blood moon appeared in the sky. The black fog spilled out, swirling and taking form again. It thrashed around the temple, destroying everything on its path. Lucien was stuck motionless. He could feel the dark magic exuding off the creature. In all his years, he never thought he would come in contact with the Black Onyx, the deadliest creature in the entire realm.

He had mapped the darkness beneath Silvermoon Academy like a second home. The chamber was circular, carved from black stone that seemed to absorb the light. The walls were covered in symbols, ancient and twisted, written in a language that predated human civilization. In the center of the room stood an altar, also black, stained with dark residue that could only be blood. Around the altar, thirteen candles burned with flames that were not orange or yellow but deep red, like drops of blood frozen in fire. The only other light came from the ceiling, where a narrow shaft opened to the sky above. The moon was full tonight, bright and white, but Lukas was not waiting for just any moon. He was wai

Livia’s POV The night air slapped my face like a wet cloth as we thundered through the dark pine forest. Twenty Black Moon warriors rode with us, their horses' hooves churning the soft mud into black soup. Torchlight flickered across the dark tree trunks, throwing wild, jumping shadows over the trail.

"They mentioned something about hunters in Hecate?" "Ah… with the Festival coming up, that makes sense. I have the Black Moon campus being swept, but Hecate is a little trickier to sweep as they have a lot of magical technology." "I hope everything will be alright… though David seemed like they had it all under control." "They most likely do," I said. "Blood Moon… has a distinct advantage over Black Moon, and by extension Blue Moon." "Like what?" "Money? Power? Connections?" I smiled, swirling my wine. "Black Moon comes in second place in terms of development."

Moonlight gathered at her fingertips, faint but steady. She began the cleansing ritual. Low, ancient words rolled off her tongue, soft and melodic. The air shifted. The temperature dropped. Silver light pooled around Carmelia’s body. At first, nothing happened. Then Carmelia’s back arched violently. Her eyes snapped fully open, and this time, they weren’t empty. They were black. Completely black. The room filled with a pressure so intense my wolf snarled, fighting for dominance. The scent of rot intensified like it was thick, suffocating.

He roared a question, every part of his transformed body was dark as if tar had been splashed all over his skin. The pupils of his eyes were covered in nothing but blackness— as if lifeless, they glared at Renesmee who was now blinking blankly, with confusion. The ground began shaking while the sky roared— it was late for Renesmee to react when Liam rushed in her direction. "You shall pay!" Liam hissed in an omnipresent voice. — Blackness was the night, of the Cold Night cursed by the whispers of Malbonte. •••

When they flew back into his mouth, the coarse-looking old man held his jaws, shrieking in pain. The black boulder had been neatly sliced into two in the center. Surprisingly, its exterior was just a thin layer, no thicker than the width of a finger. Its inside was hollow, emanating a dazzling brilliance. The multicolored light resembled an immortal mist, as waves of auspicious flames burst out, as if some divine creature was about to emerge. It was this continuous outburst of divine crimson light that made Evil Moon and Uncle Tianshu's golden teeth rebound. As the endless multicolored light emanated, a scarlet shadow slowly emerged from the black boulder.

The trees leaned as though trying to flee. ⸻ Day Seven. The final countdown. Ava stood by the ancient ruins, the wind wrapping around her like a cloak. Achi joined her, his body tense but steady. “We started this with fear,” she said, her voice clear, “but we’ll finish it with truth.” Behind them, Marcus and Darius watched in silence. Neither dared speak. The ground itself seemed to breathe with anticipation. The Blood Moon began to rise—larger than ever, swollen and pulsing with power. Its red light painted the world in warning.

Then the clouds came. The second the sun was hiding behind the clouds, the loudest shriek Liam had ever heard in his life erupted from behind him. He turned, but he was too slow. A figure in a black cloak had grabbed him and lifted him a solid foot from the ground. It’s hands were cold, clammy, and strong. Liam struggled to breathe, crying out in pain. He could feel his neck being crushed under the weight of this...creature’s...strength, and he kicked and struggled as hard as he could. Liam could hear the sounds of the townsfolk fleeing, knocking over chairs and each other to get away from the cloaked figure. Liam took a second to look into it’s eyes, determined to see who was attacking him.

Though its cold burning scorched my skin I said nothing, driving along that endless country road, while he mumbled words which flowed from his lips with an odd, foreign lilt sounding intimate and familiar, strange and alien all at once. And the night sky. It burned with black stars. I know this probably doesn’t make sense. How can you see black stars against the blackness of night? Of course, a night sky is never completely black. It’s a dimness lit by faint, ambient light. Against this burned great stars of utter blackness. Gazing at them made my blood freeze. The road ended abruptly at a wide lake. Its glass surface shimmered under the black moonlight as yel
