Shards rained down into the sink, onto the floor while I stood there, panting, bleeding from a dozen tiny cuts on my hand, and stared at the destruction I'd created.
One piece of glass was larger than the others. It was long, sharp and glinting up at me from the edge of the sink like an invitation.
I picked it up.
The edge bit into my palm, drawing a thin line of blood.
Elena won.
The thought came unbidden, rising up from somewhere deep inside me.
I thought I was the winner. Thought that getting Blake even temporarily meant I'd beaten Elena at her own game.
But I hadn't won anything.
