She closed her eyes, breathing steadily, relaxed. She was so thin. It hurt to see her like this. He asked, “Do you want to wash your hair? I can help you with it.” It was inconvenient for Serenity to wash her hair with her big bump. “I washed my hair yesterday. I’ll pass tonight. When I was young, my mom often told me not to wash it daily. She believed the old wives’ tale that it’d cause frequent headaches when I got older. So, I always wash my hair on alternate days.” Like any old wives’ tale, Serenity did not know whether what her mother said was true but she had heard it from other adults in the past.

“Don’t move. Let it burn you properly.” Azxel held still, his eyes half lidded with pleasure. When the time was right, Sky rinsed it out harshly. He gripped Azxel by the back of the neck and pushed his head under the faucet, washing out the bleach from his hair roughly, the water splashing against the sink and Azxel’s face. But Sky’s voice stayed soft. “Hold still, baby. I’m washing you. That’s it.” When he finished drying Azxel’s hair, Sky tilted his head, admiring the new burnt blonde shade and the few scattered streaks of pink.
