“Let him fight! Let him fight! Let him fight!” Kelvin stood up and looked around until his eyes met mine. Then he knelt in front of the chapel as the rain began to pour again. I looked up to the sky and saw the clouds parting for the blood moon to emerge. And the chatting became louder. “Let him fight! Let him fight! Let him fight!” Kelvin slit his wrists with the spirit sword and allowed the blood to drip on the stairs of the chapel. And we all heard a rumbling sound apart from the sound of thunder as Darka emerged from beneath the chapel. “Let him fight! Let him fight! Let him fight!”

Not like this, at least! I hated them for spinning lies around me, for stealing my name and my work. If I had a chance at life again, I would never let them get away with it. I would make them pay. Suddenly, a beam of light broke through. I realized the restraints binding me had been undone. I closed my eyes, letting the sunlight wash over me, that faint warmth giving me a thread of comfort. When I opened them again, a familiar face filled my vision. His eyes widened, and I could see a red tint gradually climbing into them. "Why are you here, Cassidy?"

"We both know you're just after some rich woman. How pathetic—whoring yourself out like this. Does Charlene know you used to be a con artist?" "Shut the hell up," Zach snapped, his face going pale as he quickly checked if anyone had heard. Shirley gave him a scornful look and silently reached out to the system in her mind. The system's voice echoed back. "You have one last swap left. Charlene has beauty, intelligence, an ideal figure, and more. You can pick one to take for yourself." Shirley answered urgently, "I want to have her background. I want to live her life."

She truly was happy to have had me. I was beginning to think that my soul, when it came to friends, it was just a revolving door. No sooner were they there than they were gone. So-called friends were never coherent. But then as I watched her spoke, I became happy, bit by bit, and my heart overwhelmed with joy. A mother is one's greatest blessing, and even though I'd lost her years and years back, she was here again.
