Deep crimson shot through with starlight silver. “I think we’re past reading signs,” I murmur. “We’re living inside the spell.” Signe moves to the far wall, examining the carved names along the edge. She frowns. “I don’t recognize any of these names. Do you?” I walk over to join her and blink in confusion. “Most of these... they’re wolf bloodlines,” I murmur. “Old ones.” I swallow deeply. “Some of them are mine.” She looks up sharply.

Some had gone unopened for centuries. I strode past them all until I spotted what I was searching for— Bloodlines & Bonds: A History of Magical Inheritance. It was thick. Leather that didn’t feel like it could be from an animal. I took a seat at the closest table, and I started reading. --- Hours passed. Every page piled more rocks atop the weight that was already crushing my chest. Theodore didn’t just have a marked bloodline — it had been engineered.

You, Lucian. Malakar. And me — we’re the wolf bloodlines.” I feel Malakar stiffen beside me. I glance over at him, but his face remains calm. Controlled. “And the hunters?” Velara asks, voice sharp.

She then gave it to him too, his brows furrowed in apprehension. “What's it babe?” I asked curiously. “War is coming, we should be ready.” “So we'd go now.” Anita said, pulling Martha out of the office. “What did they steal, Kael?” His blood shot eyes peered at me. “The Bloodline scroll.” “What's that?” He heaved a sigh of worry and said. “It's a powerful and ancient scroll that was used to find the direct lineage of any wolf alive. All that is needed is blood.”

I followed those threads deeper, into older records, older ink, older lies. That was when I found the seal. It was pressed into the corner of a brittle page, half-obscured by age: a sigil I had seen before, though never in a place I could name.
