"Tell me, Tucker, what was I to you? Was I merely a stand-in for someone else? I poured my heart into loving and understanding you, yet all I ever got in return was indifference and contempt.
"And now, out of nowhere, you say you regret it and want to 'make things right.' Do you honestly think I still need that?"
A flicker of pain crossed his face. His throat moved, but I refused to hear another excuse.
I cut him off coldly. "Tucker, don't say another word. Your promises are empty now. I was never the one you truly loved."
