Novel & Cerita Book Basement

Mommy explains as we walk up to the front door. "They're very nice, and they said we could look in the basement for Grandpa's things." Mrs. Johnson opens the door before we even knock. She's got gray hair and a flower apron, and she smiles at me the way librarians do when they want to show you the picture books. “Come in. I’m sure you know the way,” she says. The basement is dark and smells like old clothes and dirt. There are boxes everywhere, and pipes running along the ceiling that make dripping sounds. It's perfect for hiding treasure.

I'm trying to act nonchalant about it. "Not that I've seen down here." Mom answers. "You can look around if you want." I look all over the basement and don't find anything that might have a combination lock on it. I give up for now and go back to cataloguing the books. I'm on the last bookcase just as it's starting to get dark.

“Do you think the bookstore next to Wixon still has it?” Valencia leaned on the kitchen counter near the sink, tapping her fingers on the ceramic surface. “Yeah, trust me the last time I visited that bookstore down on 2nd street was 2 days ago. it was a recent visit so I’m sure they still have a few left in the Non-fiction section.” The voice on the phone said.
