Everything was quiet and still for a moment. Just a split moment before a knock from the door jolted me, causing my leg to kick the book off the bed and to the floor. The Book of the Damned flickered for a moment and I swore I could see the front cover flip opened a tiniest bit, enough to fuel my hope back up.

She collapsed onto the floor, her hair disheveled, wailing loudly without the slightest concern for how she looked. “I did it all for this family! Was it wrong for me to try to save money? Are you trying to drive me to my death?” I walked over to her and slowly crouched down. “Mom, do you know why I dared to flip the table today?” I said softly. She lifted her head in confusion, her tear-filled eyes staring at me. From the pocket of my pants, I slowly pulled out a folded sheet of paper. Under the watchful gaze of everyone in the room, I carefully unfolded it.

Toward her. Eve’s tablet gave a low, continuous beep. Number ninety-one had just received a five-minute major for fighting, a game misconduct, and an automatic ejection. The playbook wasn't just ruined. Terry had just set it on fire, and as Eve grabbed her coat and ran toward the private elevator, she realized the war hadn't just begun—they were already trapped in the blast zone.

Billy was clearly in too much of a hurry. He blurted out, "It's a coincidence! Pure coincidence! Here—I'm not gonna take advantage of you for nothing. Take this book and study it. It'll give you a solid foundation in soul-related knowledge." With that, Billy tossed a worn, coverless book onto the table and bolted like a madman, as if the Phaeron Codex might vanish if he did not get there in time. Felix still had his doubts, but his curiosity shifted toward the book. He sat down, opened it, and began reading.

“Go on, baby.” Ava looked nervous, but she placed her hand against the print. Immediately, the book shuddered like a living thing, and the leather rippled like the surface of a pond. With a low, groaning sound, the book unlocked itself, the pages fluttering open to somewhere near the middle. Strange letters danced across the pages, shifting and rearranging themselves until they settled into readable English. “It's enchanted to adapt,” Bonnie said, smiling faintly. “Otherwise, only the elders could have read it.”

"It's like I've had a life here before, according to the words here it says that the Forbidden Forest is home to the many planes, realms and worlds all intertwined. It home to demons, monsters, spirits and many supernatural beings not seem anywhere in this world. This book is far more accurate than anything in our royal library, where'd you get it?" "From some shelve in my family's secret library." Charles replies. "By the way when do you think you'll be done? I need to return that." Sebastian ignores him and carries on. "I don't understand how I can read this book yet, the words keep changing." Suddenly the book's pages start to flip itself endlessly. "Did you do something bud?" Charles ask

I tracked the error immediately. “You are holding it wrong.” “No, I am not.” “The characters are upside down, Selena.” She glanced down at the page. “Oh.” Then she flipped the book around with complete confidence, pretending nothing out of the ordinary had occurred. I snorted quietly through my nose. Selena narrowed her amber eyes at my face. “That never happened.” “I definitely saw it happening.” “Your mind imagined the variance.” “You literally flipped the thick book.” “You are hallucinating.” I stared at her for another beat before the laughter broke out. My face muscles actually ached from smiling so much.
