Baby. “The Art of Seduction by Robert Greene”, I whispered as I handed the book to the shop keeper absent-mindedly. “I’ll give you Four Thousand Naira for the 2009 Guinness Book of World Records, One Thousand Seven Hundred Naira for the novel and Two Thousand Naira for The Art of Seduction. We haggled for a while, and I turned to leave the shop and the shop keeper, so he could keep his books to himself. I stepped out of the book shop and walked two steps from the entrance, when he rushed towards me pleading.

Today, she decided to go back and finish reading the book. However, she couldn't find the book after searching the store twice. She asked the store manager who replied, "Oh, that book? It was sold yesterday." Miranda said in surprise, "What? Wasn't it a part of the owner's private collection and not for sale?" The manager nodded. "It was, but the person who came yesterday was a close friend of the owner. Apparently, they had been through life and death together, so the owner personally told me to sell the book to him. I don’t want to spend any more time digging through stacks, so I grab a random paperback that’s sitting on the edge of the table before heading to the counter. “Excellent choice!” the bookkeeper chirps as he rings me up. “This one here is a riveting read,” he says, holding up the paperback I hadn’t even glanced at.

Ben whispers, mostly to himself, as he shakes his bundle. “You go first, Isla,” Maddox says, taking Isaac’s bundle from my hands. I smile, tearing open the bundle and looking down at a small, worn book with no title and leather cover. I pull a piece of dried lavender from between the pages, but when I open the book, there is no text inside. “How strange,” I say over the sound of paper ripping and people remarking about their own gifts.
